Am I correct so far

I tried this problem and could not get any answer that matched up with a-e. As far as I am concerned, the transposition rule is basically you switch the positions of the first and second letter, third and fourth letter, etc.
Following that rule, I get:

0100001100110101000110100110

What am I doing wrong?

Without thinking much about this, I think they mean ‘transposition of the binary numbers’. so swapping the 5th and 19th bits for example.

The thing about transposition is that no matter how many times you do it, you end up with the same number of 1s and 0s that you started with. So I think you should "count the 1s’ in the 5 answers and hopefully only one answer as the same number of 1s you started with
