I’m curious about your experiences with different show tapings you’ve been to. It can be talk shows, game shows, sitcoms, or anything else. I’ve been to quite a few of them, and am always looking for the best ones to go to. I’m going to list my favorite ones from best to worst:

Melissa & Joey:
This one was my all time favorite, and my first sitcom show attendance. I’ve been twice, and the first time they gave out things like signed scripts, photos, and Dance Dance Revolution Wii games randomly. So I struck up a conversation with the warm up guy(the person who gets the audience excited before the show, usually tells jokes and things like that) after the show, and asked if he had anymore. So he said to come back next time, and he’d save me something. So a few weeks later we went back again, and sure enough, he gave me a full sized poster signed by both Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence! They also make the entire experience a party like atmosphere. Half way through both times, they pass out bags of candy and serve everyone in the audience a slice of pizza and a bottled water. Completely free to attend, and so much fun!

American Idol:
I went during season 8 I believe, the one with David Cook. It was when they still used that small stage for the performance shows. It was awesome, because it was so small, I sat directly behind Simon Cowell’s girlfriend at the time, across from where the judges sat. During breaks, Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson would talk to Teri and stand right to the side of me. I only wish I brought and pen and paper with me to have them sign!

America’s Got Talent:
I’ve been to this one twice, and the staff are super nice here. They usually assign you a seat, and I was placed right behind a lady with a big hairstyle, so I couldn’t see. I asked one of the staff if I could go sit elsewhere, and she said no problem, sit anywhere you like. This was during the Hasselhoff years, so after the show Sharon and Piers took off fast but David stayed around and signed anything you had and took pictures. After seeing him, I talked with the stage manager and said what a great job they did, and she gave me the results card Jerry Springer read the results on.

Deal or No Deal:
The absolute worst show I’ve ever been to. So we show up early, are the first ones there and still we ended up sitting behind that stupid giant board that tells how many cases are left. Because of that, we couldn’t even see any of the models so when they opened the case, we couldn’t know what it is. Whoever did the layout of the studio should have been fired, because it affected everyone sitting on that side of the stage, so nearly half the audience couldn’t see! When we asked if we could sit somewhere else before the show started and people were still being seated, the lady snapped back, "just switch seats where you are"! I really, really regret not just getting up and walking out. The people here had such a complex and had major control issues. During breaks, they would just randomly tell some people to switch seats with someone else, so this guy behind us got separated from his wife to be sat somewhere else next to a stranger. No clue what they were doing, but I’ll just say I’m glad that show went under. Probably the biggest thing that ticked me off is they had a busload of Military people from 29 Palms, and not once did they ever give them a shout out, either on camera or off. They just treated them like seat warmers, nothing more.
